I’ve been wanting to get this effect for so long. Subject is in focus and exposed perfectly, but the background is blown out. I’ve been researching different metering modes and found that my Canon Rebel XT doesn’t have this type of metering. I’m stuck with Partial Metering which is like 8%-12% of the center of the image. Which brings me to the first limitation with these consumer level canon DSLR cameras… You can only meter the center of the photograph which really takes away from your creative control when your photographing your subject. Spot metering was intoduced with Canon’s Digital Rebel XSI and T1i(whice I’ve ordered and will receive tomorrow!).
